Remote_ has been active for many years, yet this is his first full-length album.

Using classic Techno and Electronica sounds to convey a sense of warmth and depth, Remote_ wears his influences on his sleeve. Detroit - and Berlin -style sounds both feature heavily in this piece of work and Remote_ uses them to promote the feeling of simplicity yet with a large amount of groove.

From the opening moments of 'Delay ' with its deep chords, mid-tempo 4/4 beats and lightly acidic touches, you get a sense of where the album is going - there's no laptop trickery here, just honest, heartfelt Techno and Electronica with a soulful feel.

' A-Tonal ' was previously released as part of the ' Celestion EP ' on Meanwhile records and was recently licensed to a compilation put together by Swayzak and this is its first official release on CD. A heavy 4/4 track it uses metallic stabs and a deep sub-bass to give it a dubwise feel. Coupled with some heavy reverb and delay this is a minimal slice of beauty.

' D-Hell ' has a more old-school feel and featured regularly in Nick Luscombe's [ XFM ] DJ sets. Searing chords with subtle feedback effects and a pulsating beat make this something of a peak-time track.

' Drift ' uses a soundscape feel with its drawn out texture. Similar, in some ways, to Gas but with a less complicated feel and a more stripped down approach.

' Radiant ' is the most overtly Electronica-based track on the album and uses reduced bitrates and lively percussion to fine effect. A heavy sinewave bassline sits underneath the chords and punctuates the track beautifully.

' Palestine Child ' was previously available on vinyl as part of a split EP released on Smallfish. It's a delicate track with memorable House-style chords, a skippy, perky rhythm and lightly jazzy touches of melody that come across as melancholy and very human.

' Symmetry ' concludes the album and returns to the acidic sound of opening track 'Delay'. A resonating, melodic chord sound, funky bassline and subtle 303-work on the top end give it a crisp and very danceable feel.

Each track is individual yet the album is coherent and works as a long-player... Remote_ provides more proof, if it were needed, that this form of electronic music is timeless.
